DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES OF LAW OFFICER

  1. Over all in charge of the Legal matters of the entire Greater Chennai Corporation.
  2. To assist the Commissioner, in all matters concerning Legal matters.
  3. Watch the performance of Standing Counsels of the Greater Chennai Corporation in preparation of Counter Affidavit, Written Statement, Writ Appeals, Vacate Stay Petition etc.,
  4. Coordinate with the all Heads of Departments and all Zonal Officers with regard to Legal matters.
  5. To attend the Court and to liaison with Standing Counsels, Government Pleaders and Coordinate with Advocate General of Tamil Nadu, Addl. Advocate General for Sensitive Cases of Greater Chennai Corporation.
  6. Scrutinize the Parawar Remarks, Counter Affidavits and Affidavits filed by the Greater Chennai Corporation, etc.,
  7. Offering Legal Opinions to the Head of Departments and Zonal Officers in respect of the Legal Matters.
  8. Public Information Officer for Right To Information Act in the Legal Cell.
