Adolescent Girls

Goal: To improve the Physical health and mental health of the adolescent girls (11-19 years) from the slum & BPL group.

Objectives:

  • To improve the nutritional status.
  • To increase the age at marriage, women's rights for their health and child birth.
  • To improve the knowledge of early detection, treatment of Reproductive Tract infections, safe sex practices.
  • To improve knowledge on anaemia prevention, intake of low cost iron rich food.
  • To empower adolescent girls in community participation.
  • To prevent teenage pregnancy.

Institutional Services:

Conducting Adolescent Clinics at the Health Posts.
Counselling services for the Adolescent girls from the area and from the schools by Women Counsellors.
Nutrition demonstration at all the Health Posts during the Adolescent Clinics. Encouraging NGOs to involve in this programme.

Hiring of Surgeons and Anaesthetists:

To tackle any complication and also to facilitate the dynamic performance of Deliveries/Caesarean Operation, specialists like Surgeons and Anaesthetists are hired from Private practitioners by availing funds from RCH Programme. This facility is provided round the clock in the two 24 hours Hospital at Saidapet and Perumalpet.

Out Reach Services (ORS):

All Wednesday are earmarked as Out Reach Service day. During this day, all cases with Expected Date of Delivery (EDD) are followed. Anaemic mothers are given FST tablets, condoms are supplied to couples who want spacing. In short, the services are given at the door step of the Public.

Ambulance Service:

Ambulances are pressed into service to tackle the emergency cases by referring it to Hospitals.
